Hurt means to cause physical pain or injury to, (of a part of the body) suffer pain, cause mental pain or distress to (a person or their feelings.)
Why do you keep hurting? I never knew what hurt was until I met him. All I ever known from you is hurt and pain. I kept telling you what I wanted but you kept rejecting me and pushing me further away from you. You said don’t give up on us, but it was never a us in the first place.
You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore: Choosing Healing Over Heartbreak
As a matter of fact, you could have told me that you didn’t love me, you didn’t want me, and you had someone all along. The pain that I felt was unbearable, I thought everything was a nightmare, but it wasn’t it really did happen. You destroyed my self-esteem and my self-worth. I had to learn to build my confidence and self-esteem all over again.
There comes a moment in every woman’s life when she has to make a decision.
Not whether someone else will change.
But whether she will.
There comes a day when you finally say,
“Enough is enough.”
No more excuses.
No more broken promises.
No more waiting for someone to become the person they never intended to be.
No more allowing someone else’s choices to determine your worth.
That day changed my life.
I Didn’t Know Love Wasn’t Supposed to Hurt
For so long, I confused pain with love.
I believed that if I loved hard enough, prayed long enough, waited patiently enough, things would eventually change.
I kept telling you what I needed.
I asked for honesty.
I asked for consistency.
I asked to be chosen.
Instead, I was met with rejection.
Distance.
Confusion.
Broken promises.
Every time I tried to move forward, you pulled me back with just enough hope to keep me holding on.
You said,
“Don’t give up on us.”
But looking back, I realized something painful.
There was never truly an “us.”
I was fighting for a relationship that only one person was trying to build.
Loving Someone Should Never Mean Losing Yourself
I gave you everything I had.
My time.
My energy.
My prayers.
My loyalty.
My heart.
I poured so much into you that eventually I looked at myself and realized I had nothing left to give.
I had spent so much time trying to save someone else that I forgot to take care of myself.
That’s what toxic relationships often do.
They slowly convince you that if you just try harder…
Love more…
Wait longer…
Things will finally change.
But healthy love doesn’t require you to lose yourself to keep someone else.
Sometimes People Hurt Others Because They’re Hurt
Over time, I realized something.
Your actions had very little to do with me.
Broken people often hurt other people.
That doesn’t excuse manipulation.
It doesn’t justify dishonesty.
It doesn’t make betrayal acceptable.
But it reminded me that I couldn’t heal wounds I didn’t create.
Only God can heal a heart that’s willing to surrender to Him.
And only God could heal mine.
The Truth Hurt More Than the Lies
I wish you had simply been honest.
I wish you had told me you didn’t want the relationship.
I wish you had admitted your heart belonged somewhere else.
The truth would have hurt.
But confusion hurts even more.
False hope is one of the most painful forms of heartbreak because it keeps you waiting for a future that was never coming.
Eventually, I had to stop believing your words and start believing your actions.
Actions reveal what words often try to hide.
Healing My Heart Meant Rebuilding My Identity
When the relationship ended, I wasn’t just grieving the loss of a person.
I was grieving the woman I had become.
My confidence had disappeared.
My self-worth was shattered.
I questioned everything about myself.
Was I enough?
Was I lovable?
Did I do something wrong?
But through God’s grace, He began reminding me that my worth was never determined by someone’s inability to love me well.
My identity wasn’t found in a relationship.
It was found in Christ.
Little by little, God restored what heartbreak had tried to destroy.
He rebuilt my confidence.
He renewed my mind.
He reminded me that I am His daughter before I am anyone’s partner.
Love Should Reflect God’s Heart
For years I thought love meant constant pain.
Now I understand something different.
Real love is patient.
Real love is kind.
Real love tells the truth.
Real love honors.
Real love protects.
Real love doesn’t manipulate, control, or intentionally wound another person.
No relationship will ever be perfect because people are imperfect.
But love should never require you to abandon your dignity, your peace, or your relationship with God.
You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore
Today I make a different choice.
I choose peace over chaos.
Truth over manipulation.
Healing over bitterness.
Freedom over fear.
Forgiveness over resentment.
This doesn’t mean I pretend the pain never happened.
It means I refuse to let it define the rest of my life.
You no longer have the power to determine how I see myself.
You no longer have access to my heart.
Not because I hate you.
But because I finally love myself enough to protect the healing God has given me.
My Future Is No Longer Tied to My Past
I am no longer waiting for an apology that may never come.
I am no longer hoping someone else will become who I needed them to be.
I am no longer begging to be chosen.
God already chose me.
He calls me loved.
He calls me redeemed.
He calls me worthy.
He calls me His daughter.
That is enough.
Today I Am Letting Go
Today I release the hurt.
I release the disappointment.
I release the unanswered questions.
I release the broken promises.
I release the person I kept trying to change.
I forgive—not because what happened was acceptable, but because I refuse to carry the weight of unforgiveness into the future God is preparing for me.
I am moving forward.
I am healing.
I am becoming the woman God created me to be.
A Prayer for Healing After Heartbreak
Heavenly Father,
You know every tear I’ve cried and every wound hidden deep within my heart. Thank You for staying with me even in the darkest moments. Help me release the pain, disappointment, and betrayal I’ve been carrying. Heal the places where rejection made me question my worth. Teach me to see myself through Your eyes instead of through the hurtful words and actions of others. Give me wisdom to establish healthy boundaries, courage to walk away from what is unhealthy, and strength to embrace the future You have prepared for me. Thank You for loving me with a perfect love that never fails. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
This Is My New Beginning
From this day forward, I choose healing.
I choose peace.
I choose freedom.
I choose Jesus.
The chapter filled with manipulation, heartbreak, and emotional exhaustion has come to an end.
A new chapter begins today.
One where my identity is rooted in Christ.
One where my heart is protected by wisdom.
One where my future is guided by God’s purpose.
You can’t hurt me anymore—not because the past didn’t happen, but because God has healed what you tried to break.
If you’re reading this while your heart is still hurting, know this:
You are not forgotten.
You are not too broken to be healed.
You are deeply loved by God.
And your story is far from over.
So, from this day forward I will not allow you to hurt me anymore. I am moving on, letting go and becoming the woman that God called me to be. You can’t hurt me anymore, because you are now dead to me!!!

This was so hard to read, dear Christy! If life taught me something, it is that we should always prioritize ourselves, no matter the scenario.
Hello Olive! Yes that’s so true, you always prioritize yourselves!!!
I am so sorry you had to go through all of this… Unfortunately, I’ve experienced something very similar, the only way I was able to heal was to cut all ties and move to a different city.
Hello Kaylin!!! I do agree with you, that is so true, I had to do the same thing as well. Yes I had to move to a different city for things to get better for me!!!
