Don’t Fall in Love with His Potential

Don’t Fall in Love with His Potential

Goodness no I will never fall in love with his potential, some women are probably saying this! But in this case, that’s not true, come on ladies be honest. Oh I have hit the nail on the head with this one! Yes Ladies I know we have all been in this situation, trust me I know I have! Omg, Ladies but how many times do we fall for this one? It has to stop at a certain point in our lives.

Why Do You Fall in Love with His Potential?

Ladies when you first meet a man, you notice how handsome he is, oh don’t let him have an amazing body. That makes it even worse! Then he is over six feet tall and he makes over six figures. Of course, I’m not going to forget his beautiful smile or how charming he is or if has no kids is a bonus.

However, we overlook the inside which can be rotten or evil as ever. As a result, you don’t see his controlling behavior, his evil ways, his disrespect or hatred towards women, his sexual desires. His narcissistic ways, his ways of abusing women mentally, emotionally or physically. Surprisingly, how we missed all of that is because we see potential; not the right now of the man showing you who he really is. When he shows you who he is, believe him it will save you a lot of heartaches or pains.

How do You Not Fall in Love with His Potential?

Woman of God please do not fall in love with his potential. In order to not fall in love with his potential, your focus should be on God. In fact, you must be so focused on God that a man will have to go through God in order to locate you. A man should love God more than he loves you. Matter of fact, if a man does not have a personal relationship with God he should not have the audacity to even look at you.

No I am not talking about a church man that goes to church every Sunday or whenever the church is having a gathering. What I’m talking about is a true man of God that is after God’s heart. That’s the kind of man that should court you!

Stop Settling for Good Men

Now this is the hard one, we all want a good man but is that good man following God or the devil?

In Ephesians 5:21-24

“Submit yourselves to one another because of your reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband has authority over his wife just as Christ has authority over the church; and Christ is himself the Savior of the church, his body. 24 And so wives must submit themselves completely to their husbands just as the husbands submit themselves to Christ.”

Wow Ladies! If your husband is not submitted to Christ, who are you submitting to the devil or his different demons living on the inside of him? Women of God stop settling for anything less than what you deserve. Know your value and worth, everyone does not deserve to enter your lives.

Stop feeling sorry for these men, be careful who you marry because that potential man will mess up your God Given purpose in your life. You can not marry anybody but a true man of God. Jesus Christ has purpose over your life, you can not reach your full potential in life if you fall in love with his potential.

Look on the Inside with Your Spiritual Eyes

Although, you may get lonely or you may even feel like everyone is getting married but you. But you don’t know the problems they may have in their marriage. You don’t see the woman crying every night because her husband is cheating, abusing her, lying, not providing, drinking, smoking, addicted to drugs,  partying all night, not coming home at night.

Stop looking at what it seems like on social media or through pictures. Take a deeper look, see in the spirit with your spiritual eyes and look at her hurt or pain. Furthermore, she is crying out for help but no one knows her pain or heartache. Trust me, you do not want to be that woman.

It is equally important to look beyond the physical appearance of a  man, dig deeper to know who he truly is on the inside. Before you allow a man to enter into your life, you must seek the Holy Spirit for guidance. As much as your emotions tell you to go with the flow, it’s okay to talk. That’s a lie, that’s how so many women end up being hurt; the only person you need to go with is Jesus Christ.

Remember, you cannot do everything that the world is doing. God made you unique, you stand out from everyone else and you are created in the very image of Jesus Christ. Simply because everyone else is doing it does not mean you have to do it. Learn how to be yourselves, stop trying to be like everyone else to fit in.

In Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

God Has Not Forgotten About You

On the other hand, woman of God you are loved, stop looking for love in all the wrong places. Don’t fall in love with his potential anymore, fall in love with his character, actions, consists of showing up, being honest, faithful and a true man of God. Follow his spiritual guidance to determine if he is a true follower of Jesus Christ. Who is his God in his life? Is he following the Holy Spirit or listening to that small still voice inside of his head?

Pay attention to his friends, are they true men of God as well? Who are his leaders? Does he look up to God fearing men? Who does he follow on social media? Pay attention to his actions, not his words but his actions. What kind of music he listens to, what kinds of talk shows or podcasts does he listen to? How does he dress and present himself?

Likewise, I had to learn these things as well, sometimes I made mistakes, I overlooked some of those things but I’ve learned from my past mistakes. Since I’m not married, I want to help other women to prevent them from making the same mistakes I have made in my past. I hope that you can learn from my mistakes, do not fall in love with his potential but fall in love with the God inside of him.

Under those circumstances only you can love him, if God truly lives in his heart and he is living a God fearing lifestyle.
